Ringtones are a feature of the Telefang series. Accessed by the D-Shot's D-Melo menu, ringtones are a way to customize the Denjuu in your contact list.
Name Etymology
"D-Melo" comes from the original Japanese D-mero (Dメロ), with the D presumably standing for Denki (電気), meaning electricity, and mero, short for melody.
Telefang 1
In Telefang 1, there are 71 premade ringtone melodies available, and space for 8 original melodies to be written by the player. Each Denjuu species is assigned a premade ringtone, usually shared between evolutionary members. When changing a contact's ringtone, the player can choose between the default ringtone, the Denjuu's personal ringtone, or any of the 8 original ringtones.
When creating an original melody, the D-Shot's keypad is utilized in selecting notes and editing pitch, tempo, and length of notes. Original melodies can be transferred between players with use of a link connection. Original melodies could not be composed in the bootleg.
Telefang 2
In Telefang 2, the use of ringtones was changed somewhat. Original melodies are no longer available. Denjuu are also not assigned personal ringtones, but instead may use any available ringtones. Default ringtones available depend on the current model of D-Shot that the player is using; each D-Shot comes with three rings and three songs. Downloadable ringtone melodies, usable by any D-Shot model, can be unlocked by completing various actions during the course of the game. Up to three of these can be chosen for use at a time.
