Title screen of Pokemon Ruby

Pokemon Ruby is an Engrish bootleg of Telefang 2 Power version. It appears to be an attempted English translation of the Chinese Pokemon Diamond and Jade 2 bootlegs. The similarity of the title screen to the Chinese bootlegs suggests it may be by the same pirates. A fully translated English counterpart called 'Pokemon Sapphire' is reported to exist as well, although not much is known about it except that it does not work on a Nintendo DS console.[1]

Pokemon Ruby cartridge

Unlike the genuine Pokemon Ruby cartridges, which are a transparent red, the cartridge for this bootleg is a general grey GBA cartridge. The sticker label is pinkish and purple and the words Ruby on the cartridge also have a pinkish hue like the boxart. Like the boxart, it appears to be based on the colour scheme and design of the Japanese version of Pokemon Ruby.

Title Screen

Like the Pokemon Diamond and Jade 2 bootlegs, the title screen contains images of Kris and Gold from Pokemon Crystal/Gold/Silver. The background also uses the same solid blue colour. In the middle of Kris and Gold is Groudon, with the words Pocket Monster above in yellow, and the word Ruby pasted over Groudon's head, with a glowing red surround.
