(→‎Translation: added the common name for the franchise in China. It seems a proper translation exists somewhere, but I'm not sure exactly where. If I find it, I'll prolly do something with it.)
(Formatted the title more effectively (man I didn't italicise the pinyin huh?) and moved some images around for readability. Before, on PC, the text on this page was super scattered...)

Pokémon Diamond boxart

Pokémon Diamond (ZH: 口袋怪兽 钻石版 Kǒudài Guàishòu Zuānshí Bǎn) and Pokémon Jade (ZH: 口袋怪兽 翡翠版 Kǒudài Guàishòu Fěicuì Bǎn) are bootlegged versions of Telefang 1 in Simplified Chinese. Unlike most copies of the English bootlegs, all known copies of the Chinese bootlegs can load a saved game properly.

Title Screen

Pokémon Diamond title screen.

The Pokémon Diamond title screen is identical to the English Pokémon Diamond except for the Chinese characters placed above and below the image of the blue snake monster and 3 diamonds. The Pokémon Jade title screen is identical to the English Pokémon Jade except for the Chinese characters placed above and below the image of the deer and the jades.

Cartridges

Pokémon Diamond cartridge

Like the English Pokemon Diamond and Jade bootlegs, the style and design of the cartridges varies. The most common style of cartridge for the Chinese Pokemon Diamond and Jade versions is a translucent blue colour that says 'GAME' on the cart. The labels are directly copied from the boxart.

Translation

The Denjuu names and phrases are broken, and some menus are untranslated. Hidden in the ROM is also the same font as used in the English Telefang 1 bootlegs, suggesting, with more evidence, such as similar translation mistakes, that the English version of Pokémon Diamond and Jade are based on the Chinese bootlegs.

Bootleg aside, the Chinese name for Telefang is commonly translated as 携带电兽 (xiédài diànshòu), a sinified reading of the Japanese name.
