The long message at 0x12405a is an unused version of Shigeki's first encounter with the Bird chief which is actually different from what the game uses (stored in 12C000 with Barran's story text).

Translation:

Welcome to Barran, human visitor!
I am the chief of the Bird clan.
Right now, the two main clans in Barran are fighting each other...
It started with a trivial matter, but then things grew out of control.
Now relations are as bad as they could possibly be.
I'm growing tired of it all...
Could you go to the chief of the Snake clan and tell him that we wish to stop this pointless fighting?
If a member of the Bird clan went, it could easily turn into another fight, so I was hoping to ask a human like you.
If you go through with it, I would be sure to give you a reward.
Please, help us put a quick end to this!

It says most of the same stuff as the story text version, but as a single block of text without Shigeki talking and no mention of Ganbanno. I thought it was interesting, but I replaced it with "x" in the translation so it wouldn't take up space in the bank. *nod* ~ Kimbles 21:01, 3 February 2013 (MST)
