This is a complete list of Chinese Denjuu names featured in the bootleg Chinese version of Pokémon Diamond and Jade

Background

In the 1990s, video games were banned in the People's Republic of China, resulting in a culture of unlicenced video game translations proliferating in the country due to a lack of commercially available products. Pokémon Diamond and Jade are one such case.

The Chinese version of Pokémon Diamond and Jade was written in Traditional Chinese, with large characters to allow for all radicals to be presented properly. However, the boxart is written in Simplified Chinese.

The Denjuu names featured in the Chinese bootleg are largely phonetic transcriptions of the original katakana, but some exceptions exist, such as 长矛 (chángmáo, lit. pike/spear) being Spearneedle and 天使 (tiānshǐ, lit. Angel) being Angilance. Additionally, the bootleggers were limited to two characters - two syllables - per Denjuu, resulting in many Japanese phonetics being lost in translation. Considering the English version didn't use names related to these factors, it implies that the Chinese translation was not used when creating the English version of Pokémon Diamond and Jade.
